Editorial standards

How articles are sourced, dated, updated and corrected.

Sources first

Each article starts from a primary or authoritative source: court opinions and orders, statutes and bills, rule amendments, agency releases and data from the Federal Reserve, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the U.S. Courts and Florida regulators, and established news organizations. Every factual statement carries a numbered citation that links to the source. Tap or hover over a number to see the source without leaving the page.

Dated to the news

An article is published within a week of its main source, and the publication date of that source is confirmed on the source itself. Articles are not backdated and do not predict events as if they had happened.

Living stories

When a bill passes or dies, a rule is adopted or declined, a decision is reversed or new figures replace old ones, the original article is kept as written. A dated update is added above it with a link to the new source, and the article returns to the top of the front page and the feeds. Updates are listed newest first.

Original work

Articles are original analysis written for LexBrief Insights. Wording from a source appears only as a short quotation in quotation marks with its citation. Each article is checked against its cited sources for copied passages before publication. Images are illustrations created for this publication. They do not depict real people, places or events and contain no third-party logos or marks.

Independence

There is no sponsored content, no paid placement, no affiliate links and no advertising. Links to The Roca Law Firm, P.A. identify the author's own practice.

Corrections

Errors are corrected promptly, and a correction that changes the substance of an article is noted at the top of the article with its date. Send corrections to info@rocalaw.com.

Not legal advice

Articles explain general developments in the law as of their date. They are not legal advice for any particular situation, and the law may have changed since. See the disclaimer.
